yes.. excessive thermal paste will inhibit proper herat transfer.

Its pretty much beginner's screw up, the effecs can be rather significant..

The first time I tried using one of them gigabyte own thermal paste.. added like a good layer of it using a card spreader... then wehn I replaced it with just a small bead like punt in the middle and let the HSF pressure do its work.. my temp dropped like 3-4C..
    Me want Ultrabook

Cheers... LOL.. looks like I'll be removing my heatsink and re-doing it (I've ermm.. added a bead in the middle and a few around it and spread the ones around leaving the one in the middle, hehehe) ... darn... Big Typhoon installation is a bit of a boooger trying to get the screws to tighten up...looks like motherboard removal again...

Just a thought... How much do you tighten the screws holding the Heatsink down ? Finger tight... a bit more.. bit less ??

I normally go all the way till they're screwdriver tight.. but not till its like bolting a screw on an aircraft wing.. just tight enuf to prevent any loosening by any chance of vibration..

But hey, I'm using a Zalman.. could be superly different from that BTyphoon..
