Celeron 775 2.6ghz vs. AMD Sempron 2600+ 64bit 754

Which of those two low budget processors do you think is the best?

I’ve found reviews for them around the place but they only covered either the old 478 Celeron not the new 775 or they covered the old Socket A Sempron not the new 754. I ‘d appreciate anyone’s opinion on this issue.

Personally if it was me i would choose the AMD Sempron 2600+ 64bit 754.

uhh.. tbh, no contest.. the winner goes to the Sempron 64.

Unless you're so hooked on media creation.. the Sempron 64 smacks the Celeron to the stone age..

However, I would feel that the celeron has more of an upgrade path..... bigger market for 2nd han higher spe cpu's when u can afford them.

Well the comp will be used as a media center and thinking about it now 754 is a bit of a dead end and 775 does have furture upgrade possibilities.

Turions still run on socket 754. I know I could build a S754 system that would match any LGA775 system, in most single threaded apps, with relative ease.

Really though a decent S939 board (still a dead end, but no more so than LGA775) and a 3000+ is not that expensive. S939 semprons will be out quite soon, if you need to go as low as possible.

if it's just going to be a media center PC then you won't really need anything all that powerful anyway and should probably go with the least expensive option.
