Games getting artifacts and freezing up!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey guys,
About 2 months ago, I got a X800GTO, and its a fantastic card! A few eeks ago when I started far cry, on the main menu there was all red squares and it would freeze and standy the monitor! Lately, every game I play is starting to do the same!!!! When I play a game it always happenes at diffrent times eg. One time on most wanted demo in the beggining, one time at the menu, but it never does that at gameplay!
    please help me
    thank you

Check that the fan is spinning at all times and if it isnt then turn off immediately and get a new fan. Otherwise, try uninsatlling you drivers and then use driver cleaner or something like that and install the newest up to date catalysts.Hope this helps

Sounds really like an overheating issue.

Sounds like the card may have overheated already and be "fried chips".

Fried chips often shows artifact everywhere so there's might still be a bit of luck left

They may have been weakened enough that they can't even take normal speeds/temps. I had that happen with one of the original 3DFX cards. Had to underclock it to run artifact free...

I installed bad drivers once and got a similar effect, it may just require a driver update...here's hoping!

Now its starting to act up again! Its a hit and miss thing, sometime the games now work fine, sometimes it messes up. I do not know what to do! Should I get a new one with my warranty?

Change the thermal paste, check airflow and if possible change HS.

Well last time I checked my temps were only running at 35 C which I think is fine, but I could get a new CPU cooler for mX-mas if it will help. But i've just thought, when I bought my case I have a 350w PSU with it, could that be causing the problem?

No sorry, I was thinking of CPU temps lol! I think its about 45 on desktop, about 70-80 load, maybe higher. Do you think it could be the PSU?
