hardly exciting, i know, but what kind of mouse pads are people using these days. i've got a cheap rubber mouse pad which is crumbling and needs replacing.
are those glass ones any good? need something that's smooth and silent please.

I use my tabletop. Otherwise just on the top of all of the sheets of paper called homework / coursework perfect in terms of quality (fairly flat) and cheap.
:-)
Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
i like my alienware func1030, double sided, sticks to table like glue and very accurate with my MX518.
I have a http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...244106-2312616 but i don't know were u can get em.... thermal colour stuff is cool.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
been looking at scan for the free shipping, and think i might plump for the v1 icepad, as it's about the same size as my current pad, and i don't need the larger v2 one.
Im using a steelpad 4D http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/...astic_compound)
Brilliant to use huge surface and my razor optical mouse just glids over it.
cool, cheers chaps. went for the icepad. It was either that or the steelpad, and i've read they perform more or less equally, but i thought the glass might be interesting. should be a nice upgrade from the foam crap.
I have a Everglide DKT its about 30cm*45cm.
one word. Icemat.
Its excellent with every mouse I've tried (from ms intellimouse to my mx1000 )
Dave
EDIT: Ah. Jus seen you made the right choice. Let us know how you find it
oh cool, cheers dave. Currently using an MX310 (don't really need anything fancier - mainly use my mouse for surfing and music production. Just need a decent mat as current one no longer cuts it.)
love my icemat, u do need the extra space of 2 i find

Lakeland plastics do a teflon reuseable baking sheet, that plus double sided sticky tape = surface at least as good as an ice mat and around 3 times bigger for next to no cost.
well, i've gone for v1 as it's just slightly bigger than my current pad, which i've never had a problem with size-wise so i v1 ought to be fine. i'm not twitch gaming with this thing...Originally Posted by nvening
have you done this? i think it's just easier to buy a mouse mat for £13 inc shipping, to be honest.Originally Posted by herulach
Huhm, i using the G5 commando style, as my tabletop is quite smooth already, but how much difference the Icemat really make? Im looking into 1 but 23 quids it's a bit hard to justify lol
Primary kit:
Fuji S5 Pro - Nikkor AF 50/1.8 - Nikkor AF 85/1.8
Epson RD-1
Film Kit:
Leica M3 - Summicron 50/2 DR - Zeiss ZM 25/2.8 - M-Rokkor 40/2
Olympus OM2n - Zuiko 50/2 Macro - Zuiko 50/1.4 - Zuiko 35/2.8
Yep, me and 2 housemates all have 2foot square mousing surfaces (admittedly most of mine is covered in crap) that are as smooth as you could ever want.Originally Posted by csl
