Anyone want to help a newb :)

Hi everyone, im kev, and a bit of a new guy to this forum and computer tech stuff!

Just wondering if you gurus could shed some light on a couple of questions i have about a motherboard, graphics and sound? Heres the product:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=97166

And the questions i have are:

    1. Does this board have on board graphics and sound, aka will it actually work without seperate cards?

    2. I've heard some say people are overclocking this chip from 1.8 to 2.8GHZ! Any links or info you can provide me with as when i buy it i will probably try overclocking!

Cheers if you can help me,

    regards,

    Kev

uhh.. unfortunately, no.. The only Athlon 939 board that has onboard gfx I know of that follows a full sized ATX ff is a recently released Biostar board. So you're confined to getting a discrete gfx.

Regarding the motherboard.. this is not a CPU, its just a mobo. Most NForce4 boards (those newer ones) will allow a HTT ( something like Front Side Bus in olden terms.. but they are completely different things) to hit above 300MHz under proper divider or a high flying memory.

Since you brot up the 1.8Ghz, I would assume its a Venice 3000+ or an Opteron 144. The Opteron will clock significantly higher. 2.8Ghz on air using stock volts is not unheard of. Older venice chips will do 2.7Ghz-ish on stock voltage.. newer E6 ones will do 2.4-5ish on stock if u get a good batch.

Hi m8... first the mobo :

it has PCI Express x16 slot...so you'll need a graphics card,
    sound :
Audio Output SPDIF Out • 5.1 Channels • Line Out
    No sound card needed

venice 3000+ did overclock very well when they fist came out but it's more now by how lucky you are you should get 2200mhz to 2400mhz and like i said if your lucky maybe more.

    Hope that helps.

Well thanks for all your advice guys, you've been a great help so far! Are there any good articles around on over clocking the 3000+ Venice?
