    Opteron 144 vs Venice 3200+

I've been looking to get an Opteron 146 for xmas but it doesn't look like I'll be able to. What would be better to get, an Opteron 144 or a Venice 3200+?

I will try to overclock the Opteron a bit if I get it, if that would change the decision. The other parts im getting are:

2gb of Geil Value RAM (DDR400) / 2gb DDR266 RAM from Scan TodayOnly.
    EPoX 9NPA+ Ultra

    Thanks

I wouldn't get DDR266... also, have you found any Opteron 144's in stock anywhere?

If you're only overclocking a little, get the Venice.

I know of 2 online shops I can get 144s from and I know someone who owns a small computer shop that has 5 146s and 4 144s coming in on monday. A 146 from him will cost me £120 though.

Well if it's a local store, ask if you can check the steppings on the Opterons... then make your decision.

I realised I already have 1gb of DDR333 on my desk doing nothing . I'll probably get the 144 and the Asrock DualSata just because I don't have the money for a PCI-E card yet.
