    Definitive list of Opteron steppings

I'm in the market for a Opteron 146, and I'm aware of the different steppings offer different overclocking performance. Ideally I want a CABNE, but they are very rare so I'm told and best to look for a CABYE (CABGE offer naff performance?). I've also seen CAB2Es available, but no idea on those.

Also, the other parts of the code, 0540 FPAW, for instance, does that pay a big difference to its overclocking success? Many thanks

    Tobeman

Edit; Specifically, CABYE 0540 FPAWs, FPMW, FPBW. CAB2E 0540 FPMW

Dunno bout the latter part. But generally it's like this

    CABNE
    CABYE
    CAB2E
    CABGE (really rubbish)

I would agree with this, though wouldn't have said really rubbish, just bad for the CABGE.

As for the second part, not sure. I've have a FPBW (keeping) and a FPAW (auctioning), really couln't see much differance myself, both really good and for me, steady as a rock at 312 x 9 = 2808Mhz at just under 1.4V. For 3.0 Ghz needed a bump in voltage to 1.5v.

So can't shed any light on it really, sorry.

Single Core Steppings: The list below is a general guide to the strength of steppings from best to worst (as determinded by their probability of reaching 3GHz):

    1. CABNE 05xx (excluding 0540)
    2. CABYE 0540
    3, CABNE 0540 / CABYE 05xx (excluding 0540)
    4. CAB2E 05xx
    5. CABGE 05xx

It should be known that CAB2E's are more variable than other steppings. They are a bit hit or miss, a fact which diminishes their probability of hitting 3GHz. Many do, but many are stuck below 2.75. This assessment will be reviewed periodically as more info becomes available.
Just remembered seeing this on the DFI street forum, maybe helps some?
