    price check - complete 2nd hand system

    morning all - looking for your opinions please

    i've got a new motherboard on order & once that turns up i'll have nearly enough bits for 2 PCs

    much tho i want to keep both, i really can't afford it so i've been talking to a mate about buying one of them - don't want to rip her off tho cos she's a good mate & has just returned to college as a mature student so what do you reckon i should charge for this lot??

    these are the bits i have
    =================
    Motherboard (MSI KT4 Ultra SR)
    Case (Leo series ATX - gunmetal grey w/blue neon front light)
    Power Supply (Q-Tec 350w)
    Processor & Heatsink (AMD XP2200+ retail boxed set)
    256MB RAM (samsung DDR2700 333mhz)
    CD re-writer (LiteOn 52x/48x/52x)
    DVD-ROM (LiteOn 16x)
    Floppy disk drive

    i'll need to buy these new
    ==================
    Graphics card (Sapphire ATI 9200 128MB) £55
    Hard drive (40Gb maxtor diamondmax) £45
    Modem (Creative Modem Blaster V.92 PCI ) £17
    Cables, thermal paste, fans etc (approx) £20

    reckon £300 is a fair price for this lot or am i too high / too low in your opinion???

    ta very much for your input
    if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

    Could you help us out with a pickie of the case and a stat run down on the mobo to save google some bandwidth?

    My *guesses*
    • Mobo (assuming KT400 poverty spec board) - £30
    • Case - no idea
    • PSU - £10 [could be harsh, but qteck <550's arnt great - but at least its branded]
    • CPU + cooler - 40 (tbed A or B makes no difference to general public so price better than what you would get on forum)
    • Ram - £15
    • CD RW - £25
    • DVDRom - £15
    • Floppy - £5
    • Total = £140

    Adding your extra stuff's £137 = 277 - case so we are close.
    You including keyboards etc in your £300 price? OS?

    for about £5 - £10 more, you could whack an 80gb WD SE (8mb cache) in there, -instead of the 40gb, which would be far more appealing

    I would stick a 60-80GB in there, she may end up with a Broadband connection LOL! I think £300 is a very fair price, a PC is more than the sum of its parts, perhaps look at what comparable new or 2nd hand systems are going for and use that as a guide (and show her too). £350 wouldn't be unreasonable esp as you're going to spend a few hours of trouble and strife putting it all together to give her a working and usable PC. That's a great system BTW, most non-techie's would be impressed with a Duron 200FSB (2x100mhz) and onboard gfx.
