    Hmmm. If you bought a new PSU what was it? If you bought a cheap no-name one that is suitable for the old system, there's a good chance it won't be suitable for the new one. I'd really think about getting a cheap all in one deal (like the Dell), you won't pay much more and you're guaranteed it will all work together.

    For 'Parents PC' i'd recommend getting an 'all in one' package rather than assembling yourself - you'll be trouble shooting it enough as it is I would also wait and loiter in the bargain section for a month, and pick up a cheap misspriced dell when it pops up...

    The new PSU will work on both the new and old system.
