Ram compatible?

I have a sony vaio and it says this

"When purchasing memory to install into the computer, select SDRAM meeting the following specifications and guidelines:

400MHz "

does that mean as long as the ram i chose meets those requirements I can install any namebrand of ram?

I would say so yeah, standard DDR400 PC3200 RAM is what you need.

Generally, as long as you don't mix different speeds and brands of RAM you will be fine. Buy reliable like crucial can help too.

Generic memory wont always work...

It may be worth getting something specific to the model, just in case

Crucial, corsair etc. quite often have memory checkers online that will list memory that is guarenteed to be compatible with your system.

But in general any RAM that meets that specification *should* work. Just a question of how much guarentee you want.
