If you're not wanting a microphone, how about a pair of Sennhesier 497s?

They look a bit cheap, but they are very good headphones for the money (RRP is £50 as far as I'm aware, but you can often find Sennheisers for much below their retail price, such as that above store).

Get some nice Sennheiser 'phones, they're very cheap from there.
I remember reading about headphones, that would produce the same pleasure as a 5.1 set. Anyone knows about it? Its something like souround headphones if that makes sence.
Expensive compared to the prices at askdirect.co.uk.Quote:

And the surrond sound headphones are the Zalman ones - I think there is a review on the hexus site..
i need some headphones for gaming and music aswell, need some that go very loud, which you cant hear while not wearng them (my mum can hear my cheap sony ones from 2 rooms away, yes she has very good hearing) also them sounding good would be a plus, any recommendations?
If you want to spend lots of money get a set of DSP-500's. Absolutely amazing quality, you don't need a sound card to use them. They cost for you VAT payers about £80 i think
I've heard that a good pair of headphone (e.g. some of the Sennheiser) can do pretty convincing surround.
Sennheiser really are top dog by quite a way when it comes to headphones. Have a look around, they have a wide selection of headphones to suit both taste and budget.
I think that Sennhesier are starting to produce Gaming headsets with boom mics :D
These should absolutely whoopass
Not yet.... will be soon.Quote:

The zalmans are good for gaming xperiences provided you have a sound card that supports it..
I'll be trading in me Plantronics Audio .80s for a set of senny's at last :D
The Zalman Headphones are excellent in my opinion. For Gaming, DVD Movies and Music, they provide a quality and thorough sound in true surround. This is achieved by having 6 speakers in the headphone, 3 each side (2 front, 2 centre and 2 rear).
Well worth the purchase if u:
a) can afford them
b) can find somewhere that sells them.
Ben
must be one hell of a cable running to the headset!

Not excellent... but good.
Pros:
+ Great for surround sound gaming
+ Good for DVD movies with 5.1 sound tracks
Cons:
- Not very good for music listening
- Outright poor for DVD Audio
ive just ordered these, http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/produc...TEC-RPF880.htm
5hz freq responce = lot of bass :D
would they be better than Sennheiser HD 497's?
I disagree - Listening to music through these headphones gave a very good quality and thorough sound.Quote:

Were u using MP3s or CDs?...
DVD Audio im not sure as i dont have any DVD Audio discs? If you meant DVD Audio i'm also puzzled as to where u got this idea from? Are u just using crap equipment or not setting up right?
Ben :p
Hexus Hardware (no relation to this wonderful Hexus, I assume?) ran a review of those Zalman headphones.
Their conclusions were they gave a good surround sound effect in games but the sound quality was too poor (especially in the rear channels) for sufficiently good DVD/audio playback.
I bought the Sennheiser 497s from Askdirect (the best price I could find) for my laptop. They're the best headphones I could find for <£50 (after searching through a load of reviews).
They have good quality sound and are really comfortable, but people nearby can hear a fair amount of sound if you turn it up a bit. It comes with a convertor and the lead is nice and long.
Having heard so many good things about Sennheiser headphones in the last few years, I am starting to think that I should get a pair.
Never was a big fan of headphones TBH, although it could be that I was using cheap £10 with microphone integrated by of headphones ^^;
ARe you going for pure gaming use or music listening as well?
Whathifi gave the Sennheiser PX100 (£30) a Best Buy award in their recent 2003 awards. They happen to fold as well, usefull if you LAN.....
They gave the 497's 4/5 in July '02 saying : "Good value and sound quality is decent for 'phones that are as svelte as these".
With regard to Sennheiser PC gear. I use one of their neck mics for gaming (m@m 40 - £14 Maplin). Maplin also stock nice sterio sets with boom mic (MAB 40 & MAH 40) link here for between £30-50 but their website doesn't seem to have them.
stylez they top out at £50 start around 20. wish i couldve found a UK site for them b4 i got these audio 90s :(
