    Seagate or Samsung Hard Drive

I need some advise in choosing hard drive manufacture for my system. I've narrowed it down to either Seagate and/or Samsung, but I need help to decide which to go for. I'm open to suggestions for other manufactures.

    My requirements:

I need to buy 2 hard drives. Both will be SATA2 and need them to be as QUIET as possible. They will be left on for long periods. I need one for the operating system (i.e. my C: drive) and one drive purely for data (mainly music and video).

    Thanks in advance.

p.s. my computer is the Shuttle SD31P.

The Samsungs are meant to be the quietest drives around at the moment

If noise is your prime concern then go for the samsung.

Both make good drives, Samsung just slightly quieter although I have found the ones I have had run warmer - still within specs though.

Go with the Samsung. If you want to make sure it's running as quiet as possible, make sure you mount it properly, though it will be hard to do in a Shuttle - they aren't the easiest boxes to quieten.

Are there any useful ways to mount a hard drive in a 3.5" bay?

Not really, unless you use 2.5" drives that'll give you room for suspension or cushioning.

TBH I reckon you won't notice much of a difference anyway, as the CPU, PSU and GFX fans will probably drown out most of the HD noise.

    Good point.

By the way - whats the difference between SATA 150 and SATA2 ? I've also seen SATA 300?
