I'm looking to replace my current 300GB SATA Maxtor DiamondMax 10 boot drive, what with my PCI bus being saturated (Leave me alone, I have special needs. ) and my mobo having the SATA controller on the PCI bus. Lovely recipe for an unresponsive system (System upgrade time is late next year. :/).
So I'm looking for recommendations for a speedy, high-capacity harddrive (Specific models please, I'm fairly open-minded as to brand). Other concerns include noise and warranty. Specifically, I don't want something that sounds like a steel mill. I'd default with Seagate (Low noise, nice warranty), but for my impression that lately, their drives are rather sluggish. Thanks.
