    MX1000 won't charge

Red light came on my Logitech MX1000 earlier so i put it on the charger. Wouldn't charge so i cleaned the contacts on the mouse and it started charging. Took it off to click on something then put it back on

Wait a min then theres a thud (cant remember exactly what it sounded like but think it was like powering on speakers).

Now when i put the mx1000 back on the dock it wont charge! The mouse still works fine so its sending and recieving but i've checked the mains plug and its all connected properly

So any ideas? Didn't find anything on google except that the mouse will still work even if the dock has no power

Could it have been a power surge that took out the power cable for the MX1000?

That thud was probably caused by a sudden change in an elctrical current (hence sounding like the powering on of speakers) if you can change the fuse then go for it, if you haven't done it already, apart from that I don't have a clue.

Yeah, probably the fuse. The base does not need power for the mouse to work normally, thats powered from the USB. The mains is just for charging.

But yeah, i often have problems with the contacts getting dirty. I have to clean them almost everytime i want to charge it.

Also, what surge protector is it, does it have any trip switches on it?

Yea, i cleaned my contacts just yesterday. Was a few hours before i heard the sound like turning on speakers. BTW the sound came from near the base, not the plug.

Its deffinatly not because its not going in the cradle propely and the surge protector is your standard b&q job, no idea if its any good but it wont charge on other sockets either

Going to have a go at changing the fuse now

Right, any ideas how to open the plug on the MX1000?

Theres 1 small screw which i've undone and i cant get the rest of the plastic off

Never had a problem with getting to a plug before!
