Mobo insulation

Can anyone with an NF7-S confirm that I do not need fibre/plastic washers between the mobo screw and the case if I have brass posts on my case.

i would use the pastic waster or what ever they are.. just wondering why wouldnt you use them?

Because I never received any in the mobo or case packs and I wondered if the insulation around the screw holes was adequate anyway.

My last mobo came with these and mentioned it in highlights but no such mention on the Abit.

Well I suppose if the motherboard works with out them then it might be ok. I don’t have an NF7-S but I have to use them on my ABit KR7A-RAID. Last time I took my system apart I missed one washer off one screw and it wouldn’t boot. I’m not sure what you mean by “brass posts”. I’m guessing it’s the raised bits that the motherboard screws screw into. If so, I think brass conducts electricity as well, although I don’t know how well. This means you could still get a short with ground even if the posts are brass.

Ive built 30+ systems on the NF7 without using them, reassuring enough ?

The holes in the NF7 have ground points surrounding them, no electrical current passes through them, so there is no need to isolate a circuit (because there isnt one ).

Infact, all motherboards should be like this as its part of the ATX specification iirc.

edit - most causes of short circuit is caused by the case and fitting, not by the motherboard.
