Crossfire or SLI

wondering which one would be best to go for?

gonna go for a s939 mobo as ill be getting a 3500 venice chip and also 1gb dc geil pc3200 2.5-2-2-5 i think it was

was gna go for either 6800 pci-e or a x800 xl for ati

If you are going 6800 or X800Xl go SLI as it will be a lot cheaper.
You need a Master card for the X800L to run Crossfire & at the moment there don't appear to be X800L Masters only X850s

Definately better value than an x800xl, oh and yes sli is a much better system (at te moment) that cross fire.

Can you even buy crossfire yet?
SLI seems to have more options at present as any of the non-crippled nv cards will support it, whereas crossfire requires a special card as master.

you can get crossfire motherboards but they are ludicrously expensive, you can buy sli x16 boards for the same price, I would say go with a cheap sli mobo and a 7800gt or a 6800gs, both godd priceperformance ratio

Master card for CF are as rare as hen's teeth. Go with Sli atm

If it was my money I would never buy 2 midrange cards for SLi I would buy one top line card then add another once funds allow. Buying 2 6800 GS cards whilst making for a very fast gaming system doesnt allow for any upgrading without getting rid of both. Just my 2p

I agree with this guy. Buy a 256mb 7800GTX to begin with and then get another one when the prices come down a bit and you get another paycheck.

I'd just buy a single 7800GTX also - a faster single card is better than SLI. I'd only go SLI if you're planning to get at least 7800GTs.
