Memory decisions
hi there....after weeks of gentle persuasion my wife has finally given me the nod to go ahead and purchase a nice new 2gb dual channel kit.
now i would like to get this memory for xmas to put into my new machine...asus a8n sli mobo + amd64 3500 venice + 7800gt graphics.
i am an avid fps gamer and am wondering what u guys would recommend
currently i'm looking at the following
Corsair TWINX2048-3200 DDR-DIMM 2048MB Kit w/two matched CMX1024-3200 DIMMs - cl3 £146inc deliv from Komplett
Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 DDR-DIMM 2048MB Kit w/two matched CMX1024-3200C2 DIMMs - cl2 £186inc deliv from komplett
or
GSkill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX - CAS Latency : 2-3-2-5 (PC3200) £174inc deliv from cpucity.co.uk
or
Geil® Value 2Gb PC3200 Dual Chan DDR Kit (2x1GB) (Cas 3 8-4-4) with Aluminium heat spreader £145 inc deliv from microdirect.co.uk
basically i'm confused...i hear corsair ram goes well with asus stuff....my main concern is how much of a difference is there between the cl3 and cl2 stuff in terms of fps gaming performance...will it be noticeable? should i take the cl3 and save me some money to buy a new mouse too?

From what I gather (althugh this seems to be a consensus of opinion rather than hard facts), latency doesn't have that much effect on AMD64s with integrated memory controller (such as the Venice). However...
I have the GSkill on my shopping list (which changes almost hourly) at £168:20 from pc-memory-upgrade. It does seem very fast memory for not much money (which kinda swings me away from the Corsair CL2) but I can't find much objective comment about it.
(Intended mobo is either Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe or DFI LP Expert)

That's more of a marketing achievement than a performance achievement. The corsair stuff is high quality and it would work well with any system/mobo on par with the ASUS A8N or A8N32. They just tell you it matches with ASUS because they have a marketing agreement.
