    Sony Vaio Laptops

On recent Sony Vaio laptops does the recovery software still come on CD's?

I heard that they now have it on a partition on the hard drive.

    Thanks

did you mean you took off the recovery partition yourself after burning the CD's?

Just format the whole thing and start from scratch, that's what I did with my laptop when I got it

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but when you copied the recovery partition onto the CD, did you have to make the CD bootable?

    Thanks

Mine came with software to burn the CDs and then, if I remember, gave an option to remove the copy from the drive so I could use the space.

What really bugs me is that none of the new laptops come with an exclusive Windows disk. It makes reinstallation a real pain sometimes.

The best solution is to do a fresh install - get it exactly how you want it and then do a full system backup using Norton Ghost or similar. So, you can restore back to that point easily and hassle free
