    Angry Crackling with Audigy

    I have audible crackling with my Audigy. It is almost definately the soundcard. I have tried the speakers on a different pc and also the source of the sounds on a different computer.

    It is most apparent when playing music. The original discs and ripped mp3's.

    I have moved the Audigy to a different PCI slot as it was sharing an irq with my r9700. The soundcard now has its own IRQ.

    What can cause this problem?

    Thanks

    Two things come to mind.

    1) The latest driver was supposed to fix that problem (among others)

    2) If you have a VIA chipset board, updated motherboard drivers might be available.

    Most of my spec is in my sig. My mobo uses SIS 745 chipset.

    The problem hasn't always occured. And it seems to occur when the sound peaks in volume regardless of manual speaker volume.

    I have 5x PCI slots and have the audigy in the 4th. This way it's on its own irq. it was sharing with the graphics card.

    2nd PCI slot = Modem
    3rd = LAN card

    My FSB is stock @ 133 so my cpu is @ 1533mhz.
    Nothing is overclocked. My palomino sucks. Temps are fine around 50degrees-ish

    I have PC-Cillin, updated to the latest update and ran it, no viruses.

    I have the latest driver and have also tried using the old driver but the problem still occured.

    Thanks
