CPU: 4400+ looks good, I'd think about a s939 opteron dual core as it will probably get you better silicon.

RAM: I wouldn't waste the money on corsair ram...Its over rated and over priced. I know you say that you have to get it from Scan but you should be able to get some decent ocz or g.skill. which performs better and is about 2/3rs of the price. This g.skill git has been getting a lot of good write ups recently

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/GSkill/4000-2GBHZ/1

MB: I would get the deluxe version with the heatpipe chipset cooling.

GFX: 2 x 7800gtx is probably better value than 2 7800gtx 512mb but by much....

HDD: P120s are pretty quiet and perform really well so good choice there. 1TB is a lot of
    storage

PSU: Expensive but then you're powering a hell of a lot of stuff

DVDRW: Do you really need two?

COOLING: That is pretty expensive for a kit. Bear in mind that you will need two vga blocks for SLI. Also chipset water cooling is fairly pointless as the job can easily be done by the heatpipe. If you do cool it then you're just dumping excess heat into an already hot loop.

CASE: Good case, antec p180 is worth a look too

    MONITOR: Excellent monitor

    Hope this helps.

Since ur already getting all the above... Might as well dish out extra for Sapphire Pure Innovation Crossfire Edition + 2 x 512MB X1800XT...

2 of these in crossfire will smoke a standard 256MB GTX...

EDIT: I would get 2 500W Seasonic and split the system amongst essentials and peripherals.. That way ur overclock should work much better.. esp them X1800XTs (if ur getting them)

But would it smoke 2 x GTX's ? Theres a x2 below it, meaning SLI.

ive always had a good response off nvidia, my 6600gt blew my mind when i got that

After much mentel debate of cpu's i decided to go for an amd (currently owning an intel 550) because i wasnt overimpressed with my intel machine,

if i went for an opteron, say the

AMD Opteron UP 175 Dual Core 2.2GHz 64bit 2Mb Cache S939 Retail with AMD Heat Sink Fan 3Yr £299.75 £352.21

i do realise its got more cache than the athlon which has to be a good thing, but will it work with the motherboard and ram i suggested,

the reason why i must use scan is because im planning on getting it all tomorrow.. so all 'out of stock' stuff is a no-no evan if it may be worth waiting for.

i decided to knock watercooling on the head for now, at least until i get my vapochill and then rig it up at the same time.

Why do u need such a great ammount of storeage?

If its not to essential for the whole terrabyte of storeage, how about this.
2x 74 GB Raptorsin RAID 0 as your drive for OS / Games.
Then 2 of your 250gb drives for storeage?

Needs new monitor / speakers / headphones / keyboard.
Before that i need money :s

    I strongly disagree...heres a little story

Spring/Summer 2005 i got my current system, 900GB of HDD space that i honestly thought i would never fill. Ive had the system about 6-8 months and going from a total of 120GB HDD to 900GB I've currently filled 650GB of it.

I bought 2 x 300GB drives in the beginning, and a friend said to me "You can never have enough HDD space" so I decided to buy another.

Currently I don't have money to throw around on my computer, so I'm glad he said that, and that i took his advice and bought another drive.

My whole point is what he said to me....

"You can never have enough hard drive space."

That's a huge amount of cash! I have to say that some of the spec is more willy-waving than of practical use. Dual DVD writers, Quad RAID? Having said that, the CPU looks a tad small and flaccid in a 3k system! I know Scan are quite spiffy, but it seems foolish to limit yourself to one retailer when speccing such an expensive system. If it has to be, then it has to be, but still...

I'm not convinced by dual X1800s. Isn't there an issue with the interconnect system not being able to cope with the data at higher resolutions? It also restricts the motherboards that can be used. I would possibly save the money on stuff like the spare DVDR and 2 HDDs, and spend it on 512MB EVGA 7800GTX instead.

I believe EVGA have a system called "step up" whereby if you buy one or two of their cards then decide to upgrade to another of their cards within 90 days, you return the old card/s with appropriate receipts and they send you a cheque for the difference (better check this applies to the UK though). It's worth looking at anyway.

2x512MB X1800XT will definitely smoek 2x256MB Geforce 7800GTX... I'm sure ppl like smokey will play witness to that.. at least on a single card level.

Instead of a stacker, could try P180 instead..

Apprarently running Maxtors DM10s in RAID 0 are very fast, I'm running 2 in RAID 0 now.. and BF2 loads like WIFF... might want to consider those..

Running dual core Opties would be my choice really... They'll probably effortlessly hit 2.8Ghz on a powerful air like Big-T or Zalman 9500..

Can recomend getting the CM Cross Flow fan. Nice flow of cool air across the face of the motherboard tray.

And possibly another 3-to-4 5 1/4 inch bay converter.
