    New System :D

Got my new system up and running a few days ago, been busy playing FEAR and COD2

Thought I'd post a thread to show off (9614 3DMark05), and to thank everyone whos helped me out with the questions I've posted

Only one problem remains, and that is the CPU temperature being reported incorrectly not sure what to do about it though, everything seems to be working correctly; latest BIOS too.. just the temperature is reading as about 15c most of the time. Strange.
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

tempting offer Pyle, I'll have to consider it

Actually, its not the only problem .. the X1800XT is so damn massive it blocks both of my IDE ports, I can just about get one of the IDE cables in - the other is no-hope though. This means my plan to connect my old IDE HDD (with all my stuff on) didn't work (as I need that IDE for my DVDRW)..
Which means I have to buy another SATA drive, transfer all my stuff onto it.. and use that instead ..
Its awful cramped around the HDD bay with that graphics card right up to the backs of the three HDDs though.. :|

I have a Coolermaster Cavalier III atm, it's not the case though, its mobo design, the IDE ports are directly behind the PCI-E slot, and due to the size of the X1800XT it covers them.

Could you use old flat ribbon cables? They stick up less than the more modern rounded cables so might fit in. You could just put the cables in before the graphics card and then push the card down on top of them.

ribbon and rounded both use the corner feed like this ¬ rather than the sata direct feed like this |. if you take the 1800 out and flatten the rounded cable right against the side of the case, you could maybe squeeze the 1800 back in.

Either that or use a pata to sata adapter for your hdd, and stick it on one of the sata ports?

Cheers for all the advice guys.

I was considering getting a PATA to SATA converter, but they're pretty expensive by the looks of it? That would be the easiest solution.

Otherwise might just buy a nice big SATA drive
