    Sound upgrade

I'm currently using my onboard audiomax7.1 (Abit AN8) with headphones.

I'm looking to upgrade for games, is an X-fi worth the extra over an audigy2/4 considering i only use headphones?

Would it be worth using an old Soundblaster Live! 5.1 card i have from an old rig?

    Thanks
    Phil.

Big vote for the X-Fi, I have to admit when I bought it I wanted to be able to say to P4 owners that my soundcard is more powerful than your processor but the audio quality just blows me away. It is utterky superb and works incredibly with my 5.1 headphones, also the virtual surround using conventional headphones is sweeet!

Sorry, i missed the whole "from an old rig part", it would indeed be worth it, but and xFi is still great! But what headphones do you use?

Headphones are Terratec commander (ie normal, not 5.1 or surround).

I recently tried an updated version of Grand Prix Legends and the sound was poo! Something to do with codecs i think?

I'll dig out the old SB live then and give it a try.
Do any Abit people know if i should remove the AudioMax on board daughter-board thing and uninstall any drivers first?
