    Crazy sony pricing

    I just got a repair quote from sony, as you can see all it is is a faulty cd drive, look at the price!

    Please find listed below the price for the repair of your VAIO notebook with S/N 28365050-5604601 (Model PCG-FX702 CEK):
    Description Status
    Optical drive (defective) Out of Warranty












    The total price is GBP 203.36 incl. VAT, GBP 173.07 excl. VAT

    The support fee has been deducted from the repair price.

    This price includes labour, transport and parts.

    Should you refuse the repair estimate, we confirm that we will charge a flat fee of :

    GBP 41.02 incl. VAT (GBP 34.91 excl. VAT)

    The flat fee is comprised of :

    Transport : GBP 0.00 incl. VAT (GBP 0.00 excl. VAT)

    Labour : GBP 41.02 incl. VAT (GBP 34.91 excl. VAT)
    seems crazy to me?

    I don't know how user - servicable Vaio's are (perhaps not very, as they're so compact) but looking out on Ebay for a new drive may be an idea...
