Epson 880 with blocked jets

I have a epson 880 which i have been happyly running on replica carts (jectec) for the last 5years, geting though about 10 carts a year.
- About a week ago the black cart ran out, so i replaced it, and the colour while i was at it (it was quite low too)
- How ever, when a tryed to print, i got a fuzzy and stripy printout, so i did a nossle clean, and it got worse, did another, and now almost no ink comes out of any of the jets at all :undecided
- Does anyone have any ideas about why the've all suddenly blocked (all colours, an black) just right now, all a some time, on the same ink they've used for years! (its even from the same order as the prevous 3/4 carts!)
- And what can i do to go about trying to unblock them?/

I have this printer mate and mine is screwed. If I dont use it it goes all crappy and then takes a million prints untill it works fine again.

For the price of printers you may as well get a new one.

Its not been standing, i was using it fine all day before it ran out of ink.

But yeah, im beginging to think is had it. :(

And for all those anti-replica ink people who are about to get up and say "i told you so"
- Follow this.
A genuine Epson T019 (black) cart is about £22, colour about 20, a total of £42
Jetec replicas are about £2.50 and £3 respectivly, totaling to £5.50 for a pair, a saving of £36.50
- Well got though about 50carts, 5 per year, so thats 36.50*50, a saving of £182.5, which is more than enough for our next printer.

Could be the electronics that drives the nozzles has decided to pack up...

seem to remember that printer was a pig for blocking up , get it going again and then stick it on ebay as it still fetches £25+

then just buy an r200 or a canon

Well, i spend 2hours messing with it today, and its not going to work.
- I think may be the electronics for nozzels as all of one of the three set of the black jets works 100%, and do the colours, but non of the other two banks of nozzals work at all!

So it looks like im going to have to chuck it and get another, proberbly a CanonIP2000 for £46 from currys (cheapest place i can find)
- Which will then run of the same carts as the IP4000 my parents have, so i can pinch them rather than waste money buying the things!

just so you know the ip2000 does not use the same carts as the ip4000, the ones it does use are v.cheap tho

also the newer ip2200 is the same price although there doesnt appear to be any compatable cartridges available for it yet

ah dam, im geting confused.
- its the ip3000 that uses the same carts as the 4000.

The ip4000 has also been replaced wit hthe IP4200, takes different carts to the 4000, also has higher dpi.

Well, i looked at geting an ip2000, but in the end i got another "referbished" ip4000 off ebay.
- Its a bit quicker, particualy at "text and graphics" which is what i will mainly be printing.
- And its got a parralel port, so i can hook it up to our network with a cheap print-server next year.

I think im going to stick the 880 up on ebay as "spares and repair" and see what i get for it.

Have you tried changing the cart again?

Are the carts old? If they are it is possible that they've dried out really they shouldn't dry out because they're sealed in foil bags then they have various bits of tape over their openings. It is possible that you've got a dodgy cart that has either dried up while it was on the shelf or had no ink in it when it left the factory. I've had dodgy carts before, but it does seem to be too much of a coincidence that both would go at the same time :(

Ive tried several diffrent carts, and blead it a lot, but its not having any of it.
- Of the three sets of black jets, one set works 100% and the other two are 100% dead.
- So it sound like there toast to me.
- Eather way, its only worth £25 if it works, not it no great loss any more.
- And the ip4000 was dispatched this morning.
