    Does this help at all?

Interesting one, as I also have an X800XL - has anyone followed this upgrade path from an X800XL to a X1800XL/7800GTX?
I can't get either link to work, but if it's the chart I think it is then I remember it being trashed as utter rubbish in another thread on hexus. I have to say I don't hold tomshardware in very high regard personally, thats why i come here for opinions/advice

I'll try again tomorrow morning as my internet connection has been playing up today grrrrr plusnet grrrrrrr

Storm, please show me where a X1800XL beats a 7800GTX? It's on par with a 7800GT, it's not in the same league as a GTX.
You can overclock an XL to XT specs though & in such a state it will beat a stock 7800GTX (even 1 with a slight factory oc)

Personnally i would go down the ATI X1000 route (and am planning to do so in the near future) if i was in your position i would wait for the X1900 to be released and then if there is a price drop for the X1800XT get that.

Having read the above post about tomshardware not being too reliable i am a bit sceptical about their VGA charts, that said their results show that with some games SLI shows a performance loss, so make of that what you will.
