Maxtor DiamondMax 10 80GB SATA II <--That will be slow like sh*t. Probably better to get a 36/74G Raptor.

Akasa AK-TK-01 Cable Tidy Kit
Akasa Rounded Floppy Cable (0.45m)
Akasa Rounded IDE Cable (0.45m)
Akasa Rounded IDE Cable (0.90m)
Sony Black 3½" Floppy
Plextor PX-130A 16X/50X <--Probably won't need them

The Asus motherboard includes all the IDE/SATA/Floppy cables you will ever need (although not rounded). But since you won't get any airflow near the DVDROM(s) anyway so using a flat cable will not do any harm.

In very rare case you'll need 2 DVDROMs. If you want to do CD copying just dump the image to the hdd then burn. If you want to do DVD copying you NEED to decrypt the DVD first anyway. So you still don't need the second DVDROM.

When do you need a floppy drive? Probably not except when you need driver for RAID in the first place. It does not appear that you have raid. Even if you really do need a floppy drive, I would recommend a USB one (all modern boards/oses can access USB floppy drive during install)

And I would recommend Arctic Ceramique more than AS5.

So the fx-60 is being released on the 10th of jan?? Coz ive read about it being released sometime in jan but ive havent heard a date. I wont get the fx-60 coz no doubt it'll be priced similar to the fx-57 which is over £700. But along with the fx-60 is the X2 5000 if im correct which im hoping will push down the price of the X2 4800.

Ive heard that SATA II's are nearly as fast as the raptors with their transfer rate being double. Ill prolly stick with these drives as the raptors are very expensive in comparison.

As for the DVD-ROM yes i do want it. Ive had one drive in my comp for 4 years and i once had a lend of my m8's DVD-RW for a week and loved having the convience of 2 drives.

I know floppy drives are old technology but i still sometimes use them for stuff and for £4 - why not??

Everywhere ive went there has been brilliant reviews about AS5... is there much different with the Ceramique one?

As for the cables, yeah im gonna take them out coz i dont need them ur right. But im keeping the cable Tidy kit coz i want good airflow around the case.

BTW i made a typo in my first post, im getting the g7 not the g5 mouse.

thanks every1

Nope, because the raptor matches corresponsing SCSI harddrives' price. The 150G raptor will simply 1.2 times more expensive as if its in the SCSI market

Get the X24400 instead, and just overclock it.

Also, get the 2GB G-SKILL kit from overclockers for £158.

I hear a X1900 series is coming out. Maybe wait for that?

Yeah get either a 4400+ and O|C it or get an Opteron 180 - both will OC like FCUK

The Ballistix PC4000 is awesome - it OC's like a mofo - well worth it

Nice vid card tho

I would agree with Kemp there, look at the opterons - they are generally better at overclocking than their desktop equivalents (for around the same money)

The new raptors... well, WD can't really bring out a 10k rpm drive thats slower that its larger rivals. It will be faster, or it won't sell, and will most likely have current gen spec, AND 10krpm... Comparativly speaking, I'm hoping it will be as fast as the original raptor was over the drives available at that time, but will have to wait and see.

oh, and one thing - get the memory, cpu and mobo from the same place, it may well save a headache in the future if/when one stops working...
