Injured barton?
Hello i received a barton today with stepping AQXEA 0329...
Anyway i was concerned when i looked at the core. Most of the core is kinda covered with a kina pinkish hue however there is a smallish square section where it looks like patches of the pinkish cover are missing.
Is this normal or does this mean my processor is damaged, its a tray version so the warranty is short. should i send it back and request another i was hoping to put the system together early next week? sorry i can't provide a picture
cheers

if found that the hue changes with temperature, so colour dont matter.
if theres any damage it will most likely be right at the edge.
i think what ur looking at is the same it as on this duron i have here, a 1mm form the bottom right a small square bit with pattern, i dunno what its for but ive seen it on every amd cpu, so no, urs isnt broken :)

Yeh i've seen cores with like a "stain" on them if you know what i mean. Where the core is a different colour in a certain area. Beats me what it is but it happens.

thanks folks comments like this and from another thread have convinced me its alright, i've seen pictures of other barton cores which also have the same thing so i can relax. My heart failure will wait for another day :)
