I already have the bollocks clocked off it thx
I can go to 2.5Ghz with this CPU at the moment stable in my Asus with no problems, updating my MB is not an option.

I'd def go for the 2500+ and run at 3200+ speeds
But he can't go any faster with a barton than with his 1700 so all that'd be gained is the extra cache, not worth £60 imo
Not really with synthetic benchmarks, but they do have more of an affect with real world apps.Originally posted by Knoxville
imo the extra cache on the barton wouldn't be worth it, as it only adds in real terms the equivalent of 1/200mhz more clock speed
Barton 2600+ vs TbredB 2600+.
I've played around with my CPU before and I don't notice a speed difference (games, apps, etc...) until I hit 2.1-2.2Ghz. Anything more than that (max oc speed is 2.45Ghz), I don't notice it. This is with an FSB of 200Mhz.

I could prolly get £35-40 for mine on eBay so we would only be talking a upgrade cost of £20-£25.Originally posted by Knoxville

If I could get the Barton up to 2.3 then with the extra cache that would be the same as running my Tbred at 2.5, which I can do now but I don't like how many volts I have to put through it to get there.
If I could get the Barton to 2.4, which seems to be the norm, then that would be the same as a Tbred at 2.6, that would be a 300Mhz increase on what I have now.
Still can't make up me mind.
