Question Athlon 64 3800+ at stock running at 59c in Prime 95

I ran the CPU torture test tonight and Asus Probe reported that my CPU temp was hitting 59-60 degrees centigrade. Is that normal?

I have fitted an XP-90 cooler with 92mm AC Ryan Blackfire fan to my CPU with Ceramique and would appreciate it if anyone happens to think that the fan could be causing a problem.

I am intending to remove the 3800+ and replace it with an Opteron 144 CABNE, which I will be overclocking so obviously I want to make sure that everything is up to the task. Mobo is an Asus A8V Deluxe.

Definitely not normal. Even my A64 @ 2.7Ghz only go up to 57'C with STOCK cooler. But well, Asus sensors are never accurate.

    Hello mate!

Hmmm. What do you suggest to get a proper temperature reading. The motherboard sensor says that it is only 26 degrees so I think something is definately weird, especially as I am continuing the use my PC without any problems.

You could buy a temperature sensor probe and attach it on the CPU. I used to do that with my CPU but I accidentally broke the probe I got two months ago (came with my Xaser III case)

I'm stress testing my cpu at the moment (144 at standard settings) and it is running at 53 centigrade.

this is with the standard silicon paste too. (I will be replacing it with silver stuff)

Does anyone know what the norms are for these cpus ?
