Good PS/2 Gaming mouse???

Hi

I'm after a gaming mouse for my PC but need it to be PS/2 as I'm running it through a KVM. I've been looking at the offerings from Logitech...any comments?

You can run the mx1000 through ps2, as i imagine you can with any logitech usb mouse (dont quote me on it) because the wireless ones at least are interchangeable base station wise.

I'm not sure where (or if) PS/2 is the bottleneck for gaming mice.

I don't really want a wireless one unless it's a really good one...and I take it the MX1000 is?

EDIT: Was also after one with 1600+ dpi

IME, plugging a USB mouse into PS/2 (like the mx) makes fine adjustments (like graphics work) not so accurate and slightly jolty.

That's not too bad - I use a graphics tablet for my photoshop stuff. As long as it wouldn't be too bad in games.

I remember that - but that can be countered I think if you go to control panel > Mouse settings > Hardware Properties > then there will be something there which will have the signals per second or something, which is by default at 100. Change it to 200 (if it breaks your mouse or anything, don't claim me responsible, but I've done it with about 6 different PS2 mice everytime and it works perfect) and then you should notice a much smoother precise movement of your PS2 based mouse :) USB mice don't have this option as I think it is by default at a high signal rate.

My Mystique Mystify Mamba 1600dpi (a mouthfull) pretty much rocks. much more precise than the cordless logitech i used b4.

This was using wires, nor wireless. Don't think there was a signal thing then.

Just had a look (am using lappy atm) but my touchpad has this:

I can only find the 1200dpi version

Yeah thats what I meant - I would have given a clearer explanation myself but I don't have any PS2 mice in the house so I explained as well as I could :embarrassed:

And it allows you to use the software that came with it and use all the buttons? I only sak because I can't use one button on my mouse at the mo as the driver doesn't detect it's there.

I think I'm swinging towards the MX518 atm

I personally went for the MX310, and it works perfectly fine using PS2 through a KVM.

You dont need to install the logitech software either to change DPI on the fly.

I've got a Logitech MX518 and I love it. I also use it with the PS2 dongle thing, and have no probs on Far Cry or Call of Duty.

The cheapest I've seen them is £32 on Amazon...

Seen it for £30 on ebuyer. Looking good
