NF7s died and the longest -and most frustrating-RMA ever

My NF7s mobo sudenly died last month. no post, no apparent reason, yet the disk drives would spin and the LEDs come on. has anybody else had this problem? Also Komplett took nearly a month to turn the RMA around and get a new board to me. I was pretty P*ssed at that. apparently it took a week to get from the engineers bench to even think about dispatching a new board. is this acceptable?
if only a big store like Ripp Yer Arms Off World would start doing decent stocks of hardware and bits, instead of selling inferior pre built machines.
who is a decent supplier with an excellent RMA service? cos i aint goin through that again.

i found Scan's to be good.

If you live near Manchester, Aria have superb service in terms of returning faulty goods. You ring them up, go into the shop, give a guy your board, take a seat, and he'll come back saying "You're right... it doesn't work!". He'll then give you an invoice which you take the sales/pickup desk, and they'll fetch you a new one!

Mine was also an NF7-S.. received it, tested it, took it back. All in one day :)

I had to RMA an Abit to Komplett & they turned it around in a few days. Also a stick of twinmos ram & they were pretty quick with that too.

Hopefully your situation was a one off - would like to hear of other peoples experinces RMAing to them.

Pah, that's nothing, Novatech took the best part of 2 months..

I'm not going to say anything about Komplett.

I like using OCUK. They sure arnt perfect, or cheap either but I use alot of bandwidth on their forums, so...

For slightly more choice I keep coming back to Dabs and have used their rma procedure twice - not as good as OCUK (but tend not to need it as much in the first place ;) on this but it gets done without a squabble - but still not fast.

I've used lots of other little places, but not enough recently to say anything about:
Simply (used lots nbut never needed to rma) kustompc, scan, cpu city and even ebuyer.

It took 5 weeks to get a replacement from Komplett for a broken nf7-s, took ONE week just to get an rma number and an address.

Great prices come with a drawback, terrible returns service.

I had my worst with Scan.. Almost 2 months (7 weeks.. And the delivery was very untimely in the first place).
1 week: RMA Number
1 week (okay 5 days): for them to "find" the case I sent.. I used a next day courrier..
3 weeks: for them to "validate" the item (make sure it was faulty). However, they refused to issue me a new case. Their policy was to refund if the item was found to be faulty within the first 10 day (or something like that). 7 days RMA + 1 day collection + 1 day delivery.. I thought it was okay - but they made sure to delay the whole process.
2.5 weeks: They kept saying that the money should be on the way to my bank... It only happened after 2+ weeks when I was eventually passed on to the supervisor. The money appeared the very next day.

So in all, I lost almost £20 from the shipping (both direction) and lots of time... Needless to say, I've had worse experience than Platty seems to have had..

Dabs: Tried to RMA a Yamaha CDRW drive. After queueing for a while, I was told I had to deal with Yamaha directly o_0
Oh well, at least it was pretty painless. I don't quite remember the details anymore, but I was expecting it to take a long time as the drive had to go back to Belgium or something.. But it turned out to be very timely..

Again, despite rather average PR (Ever heard of replying to emails lads?), Overclockers do have a good RMA service.

Email to tell me the goods had arrived at their shop on the Monday morning.

Email to tell me my replacements were packed and ready to go on the Tuesday morning.

Can't fault them on that.

You're in a majority of one there I think. I don't even bother looking at their website anymore. 6 million sale lines and probably 1 support line. Thats the way it seems at least.
Komplett seem to be slightly better, OcUK better again but still none of them worthy of praise IMO. Dabs are ok I have found. Generally if its an item I can't do without I'll buy it locally as I can walk in to the shop and demand service. Can't do that with and online retailer. But then thats why they are cheaper.

I have only had to RMA to eBuyer, that took two weeks all in all.

it just depends on your luck i rma,ed a nf7/s to ocuk and it took 10 weeks to turn around with only 1 e-mail to tell me they had received it in all that time.

Ocuk used to be considerably better in the past. For sure. Which is a pity.

never had any problems with komplett or ebuyer for rma - got a replacement for my nf7-s within three days from komplett, and ebuyer rmad both psus that bust on me even though I sent both of them back more than 3 weeks after I got the rma numbers for them. Got replacements in less than a week.

Guess I'm just lucky :D *touches wood.
