    Problems detecting SATA

I have fresh build of XP running on a 40gb ide drive with asus A8V deluxe mobo. Have puchased a 200gb SATA to store media/games on etc but windows is not seeing the new drive in the disk managment tool.

Bios is set as per the manual for adding a SATA drive:

Plugged in to SATA 1 on the VIA chipset, with
    SATA Bootrun enabled
    Oboard PRomise controller enabled
    Operating Mode as RAID

The drive is definatley spinning up, but windows just wont see it. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is there something I've missed?

    Any advise appreciated.

You need to turn any RAID options off as you won't be using it, you should be fine after that.

deactivated the raid settings. Still no joy. Also tried disabling the SATA Bootrun setting. Still no joy.

Should I be seeing the drive in the bios anywhere?
