    Not to sure?
Its up to Arctic silver 5 now though!!! my tube (2 years) still going strong though.

Should be alright... Just make sure you give the cpu and HSF a good clean before install.

If you were able to use a 166 divider in bios and set the HTT (fsb) to 250 and the LDT multiplier to 4 (default is 5), you would get:
9 x 250 = 2250Hmz for the CPU, and your memory frequency would only be about 204Mhz.
Therefore you memory will easily cope with the overclock.

Though noone in their right minds would ever guarantee any chip to overclock at all, if I had to bet on one, it would be the opteron 1xx series for socket 939

    To answer you question though:
    the opteron is cheaper.
At same Mhz speeds as an A64, performance will be higher.
Overclocking (something for nothing) is good fun!!

    agreed

I'm still trying to work out how to set the 166 divider. it's confusing the feck out of me

also - I'm trying to determine what voltage I'll need to have set for the 2.25ghz

    anyway, night all.

I'm clocking merrily now - the from-factory bios is too **** for words for overclocking.
