PSU and ATX 12V Power Connector.

I have my new ASRock board and it has an extra ATX 12v Power Connector on it, which my PSU does not have. It is four pins configured in a square.

Can I buy a converter for the standard 4-pin Molex connector or is it finally time to upgrade the PSU?

I looked in Maplins but they didn’t have one. I even went to PC World (I feel so dirty), but as expected they had nothing useful.

As upgrade PSUs, I want a quiet one. I’m looking at one of the three 480watt Tagan’s from Scan.
    • LN10085 480W Tagan 2Force SLi Ultra Quiet 21db Also support 12v EPS/SATA/XEON 3 Years Warranty ATX/BTX £62.85
    • LN5993 480W Tagan TG480-U01 Quiet ATX2.0 SLi 12v EPS/SATA/XEON 3 Years Warranty ATX/BTX £56.27
    • LN11321 480w Tagan TG480-U15 EasyCon - 2Force Silent Modular PSU £64.61

If I do buy a new one, I need to make sure it has this 12v ATX connector while keeping it future proof.

What maplins did you look in? They sell both the tagan 480W and the FSP blue storm, both of which are ATX 2.0 power supplies, and pretty much every power supply you buy now will have a p4 connector on it. For my money id get (and indeed did) they easycon, although it didnt actually reduce clutter for me, as i need all bar one of the holes filled.

Thanks, does EasyCon allow you to remove cables that are not needed?

I meant Maplins didn't have a converter. I wasn’t looking for PSUs are that point.

Ah right, fair enough, yes it does, that is why the easycon is more expensive, also all the cables are pre shrouded, which looks a lot better imo.
