    Post My New PC...

    Hey guys, i have already posted a system spec but as the komplett site is currently playing up i haven't ordered this pc yet...

    Just wondering if anyone has any more suggestions about the spec as i'm spending alot of money (£1500) and want to get it right 1st time

    * AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.2GHz Socket939, 2MB, BOXED w/fan

    I will be using the PC for gaming as well as general computing (i.e. video encoding, music production etc.) and as a media center...
    Things i will upgrade later:
    GFX card for SLI,
    Soundblaster X-Fi,
    More storage.

    I agree. The Raptor will be great for the OS and maybe game installations, but you should get a storage drive for things that don't need the speed of the Raptor.

    Ok, hard drive space isn't too much of a problem as i've got some old IDE drives to use for the moment until I upgrade them to some nice SATA drives.

    Another question, which OS should i install, XP Pro SP2 or XP x64?
    I don't know how much of a performance boost x64 will give and i'm worried about having software/driver compatibilty problems, especially when i want to dabble in overclocking

    I think you would find that XP x64 isn't really ready for primetime... XP SP2 is (by M$ standards) pretty stable and drivers are consistently available for it.
