I'd say an x800 gto personally as thats what i have and it's great.
X1600XT if your planning on ATi (and you fancy the xcode facility), X850XT (from OCuk, & yes I know most of you here hate them with a passion!) if your still in to ATi but want horsepower over newer tech...
Nvidia wise the 6800GS is just about in your range... but thats about it.
Fraid im lost here btw not to rigid on the £125 if i could get a better one for some extra £, i heard that you shouldn't use an ati card with an nvidia board (True or False)Quote:

I would spend 130 on a geforce 6800gs - far faster than the x800gto.
Though if you can find an x850xt for the price they are seriously fast cards.
And false about the nvidia board thing - you can use cards on the other's m/board no problem at all.
The motherboard you gave has a PCI-Express graphics card slot, so you can use the latest, greatest graphics cards (and can spend anywhere from £20 up to £500 or more!).Quote:

The nVidia 6800GS and the ATI x800 GTO (and GTO2) are in the similar £100 - £150 price range where most of the real bargains can be found (price / performance).
IF, however, games are not your thing, this one for £29 will do the job more than adequately:

Enjoy!:)
I got am X800 GTO for about £120 a few months ago. Handles Battlefield 2, PES5, etc with ease.
256Mb ScanFX PCI-E 6800GS SLi Extreme Edition GDDR3 ViVo Tv Out Dual DVI HDTV
or
PowerColor ATI Radeon X850 XT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI
or
Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO² 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI
All roughly the same price which one:undecided
Thanks
I would think the X850XT is the fastest card overall out of that list of three... Correct me if i'm wrong though :)
Yes, the X850XT is the fastest.
The 6800gs is more 'future proof' in terms of technologies, but that's not an issue for this generation or even near-future releases. Beyond then it might be, but the card might be too slow for the future generation games anyway.
you could get a 6800gt from scan from £140-160 depending on if it is in the today only section, it has gual dvi and a quiet cooling system. similar money to the gto but more pipes and sm3
You should have bought my GTO2 as well as my AN8 Ultra:) (which was posted today by the way)
The GTO2 really is a good card but if you can get the X850XT for the same money then get that as it has vivo as well and doesn't need unlocking & overclocking like the gto2 does.
