Hi,

Anandtech has the AMD roadmap here.

April for the first M2 releases, with versions of the current X2 range, plus
a dual-core 5000+ in Qtr2, and a 5200+ in Qtr4

No mention of 939 socket versions of the new processors, but as the CPU market
is about to get much hotter with more competition from Intel, you can be pretty
sure they'll be in the pipeline too, just to make sure they don't lose anyone upgrading
who's already got a 939 motherboard.

So,

1) AMD dual-core now, and pay slightly over the odds
2) AMD Opteron now (£100), overclock the hell out of it, and wait for the dual-core war
to start. Then pick up a X2 44/46/4800+ at a nice price in say, 6 months?

Or, *shudder* go the Intel route

Either way, in 2007 we're all going to be harping on about quad-core technologies!
