Ram for a Lap Top: HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP :-)

I know so little about Laptops I might die of embarresment but here goes.

Where is it? What does it look like? Ans how do you put it in, take it out or upgrade it?

Its a Compaq Evo N610c and I've found a removable lid that MIGHT have ram under it....buts its so small and its got a wire plugged into it!!! like a mini psu lead, so I'm thinking its a mode m or summit.

I hate being clueless.....but its a work PC, "no upgrade Mr Zak, leave us alone" and I daren't break it!

Pls help....256mb is not enough. Period

thanks guys....just trying to get that PDF (cheers FLibb) to download. I dont know what this ram looks like yet, so cant see if I can upgrade (ie spare slot) or need to buy a whole 512 yet.

After looking at the pdf looks like you need to take the keyboard out to get at the memory.

Have you right clicked and saved as the pdf??

If you found something like it but with wires attached that will probably be the wireless card. MiniPCI looks very similar to a SODIMM.

yeah I recommend crucial also have bought loads off them very reliable.

If its under the keyboard normally there is a plastic strip which pops off between the screen and the k/b, press the f1 key down and flip a thin flatblade underneath. Once off theres normally a couple of screws and the k/b should just lift off, be carefull as there will be a thin ribbon cable to detach from the mobo.
