I tried moving from an DFI NF4 SLI-D to A8N-SLI Deluxe and windows wouldn't boot
I suppose it could be fixed in safe mode but I didn't bother and just do a reinstallation.

whats the diff between the asus a8n-sli deluxe and asus a8n-sli SE?
Would of thought it would be ok as long as you plug the HD into the same sata port.
Nox
I agree with Nox, it probably would work. After all, a lot of the drivers are going to be identical. Plugging everything into the same places will help.
It should be a lot less troublesome than changing manufacturer (DFI -> ASUS), where most of the drivers are likely to be different.
It seems like an odd change though. Presumably you've got a faulty delux and you supplier has offered/supplied you with a premium in replacement ?
It's certainly not an upgrade I would pay for.
the only difference is the fans are replaced with heatsink/heatpipe thingys as far as Im aware. My mate has the premium one, and I have the bog-standard card.

I would always recommend a reformat when installing a new motherboard.Originally Posted by Noni

There are a couple of more subtle differences although it's generally the same board with the heatpipe and sink instead of the cacky fan they use on the Deluxe. We've stopped putting the Deluxe Boards into our systems because of all the trouble we had with the fans.Originally Posted by dannyboy83
One other big difference is that you can switch the SLi on and off in the BIOS on the Premium, whereas the Deluxe has a hardware switch on the motherboard which is a pig to get to if you're just adding another card in. Unless you have nimble fingers of course!![]()
I'd seriously always pick the Premium over the Deluxe, but thats with all the bad experience we've had with the latter one.![]()
