Hi,
Does anybody know of a motherboard that supports 4 IDE slots and on board hardware raid? One of the servers at work has died and we need a replacement. Cheers

As far as I am aware, there are no motherboards that support onboard IDE hardware RAID.
Did your old mobo support this? If so, hit ebay for a replacement.
Nox
Look for highpoint Controllers embedded into motherboard. Highpoint 370, 372 etc spring to mind although I think they will only do RAID 0, 1 and 0+1
What motherboard is being replaced, please? Are the processors intact or are you replacing those too?
Just buy yourself a HPT RR454 or something similar from SCAN (If you still want to use the disks). and ONBOARD RAID is NEVER HARDWARE. It is host-based, and don't have a processor to do the I/O.
If you're looking for IDE raid, try 3Ware 7500/7506 series. They should be uber cheap on ebay (Becareful not to buy the 5xxx and 6xxx series). True hardware IDE raid (but they're slow in today's standard)
You might be better off upgrading the whole server to something faster and use SATA raid (like Rocketraid 2320/2220 or Promise EX8350 or if you have the money, Areca, LSI or 3Ware)

im just the messenger so if anythings factually wrong then ooops. lol. Its an Asrock board thats died everything else works fine. And theres more chance of the moon turning to cheese than us being given any serious money to spend still its only a ris box so it dont need to be mega powerful it just needs to have the storage space to hold the images but anyway i think a gigabyte board has been found that might do the trick
Yeah.. ASRock make great boards, but they are budget after all - not really recommended for servers!
yep i know that, my boss knows that the finance manger wont give is any cash so we have to make do. These batch of baords have been pretty naff the rest have all been standard office machines and out of 10 4 have died
