Increase the HTT by 10 each time, when cant boot or instable increase Vcore by 0.25v, set divider for ram to 133 if you determined to go up to 3.0Ghz. Also with HTT =<250, HTT multi should be 4, anything above 270 should go with HTT multi 3.

What ram have you got? If your ram wont run above 230mhz then you need to use the divider, if you have powerful ram that is capable of running at high speeds then you should be able to run 1:1

    Goto Advanced
    Goto Cpu Configuration
    Goto DRAM Configuration
Change Max Memclock from 400Mhz to either 333, 266 or 200Mhz.

Some Screenshots & info on this site on how to overclock on an Asus A8n Sli Board:

    http://www.vr-zone.com.sg/?i=1582&s=2

Careful though as there's some extreme overclocking stuff on that site, which judging by your questions your not 'quite' ready for yet LOL

Geil value is usually good for around 230/240 the 256 and 512 sticks, I dont think the 1gb sticks can get that high. Are you running 2x1gb?

Also 2T is a big performance hit, cant you hit 1T?

And if you want to go upto 250-260 fsb you'll need to drop the HTT mulitplier down to 3x, give it touch more cpu volts. It would also help if you slackened the memory timings too if you're not dropping the multiplier on the ram or even if you are for that matter.

Finally, don't you dare kill that chip

i wont jim lol, im using 2x512 geil sticks in dual channel, i hit 2500 stable with 250 mhz and htt x 4 and cpu x10 without touching voltage or ram sticks but when i touched my ram sticks changed it from 2t to 1t timings i then had problem booting up and had to reset the bios using the jumpter on the mobo to actually get it to post. my cpu is on 1.48v atm and im 3 optons away from top voltage in the drop down box... wondering what i should do to be able to get to 2.6 2.8 ghz stable? i mean my pc is fast lol but i like the ideaof it being faster haha nd the knollege behind overclocking is intresting and finally can any1 recomend some programs to check my stability i have prime 95, that benchmarking program mark05 or somign, speedfan and cpu-z...

I disagree, it's a big bandwidth hit but in real world apps it isn't a big performance hit imo.
