Hi guys, just wondering about what sort of a temperature is acceptable to run my chip at overclocked, before it fries.
It runs at about 25 degrees normally, so if i try to overclock it a bit how high is it gonna go before it melts lol.
I only have one fan, and that is the CPU fan. Although an article on the main site reckons this chip will clock from 1.81ghz to 2.7ghz without another case fan :confused:

depends what sort of steppings u have.. most Venice hit 2.4Ghz quite easily, but blatantly saying 2.7Ghz is easily doable is just a little brave TBH..
I used to have a 3500+ that does 2.7Ghz on 1.6V and they run about 34C idle and 50ishC load on an XP90C + Tornado
Running without an exhaust will keep noise to a minimum, but if ur looking to get the most out of ur air cooled system, its best to invest in a proper case fan... chip in more for a SilenX if noise is not ur thing..
Running the stock cooler will see you through to about 2.5ish on 1.5ishV before things get too hot..

You don't need to have monster wind turbines in there and generally 120mm fans are better than 80mm fans for sound levels and volume of air flow.

Got it up to 2.36 tonite guys, all stock. And still runs all the Prime 95 torture tests fine.
Thats pretty much the equivalent of a 3800+ , and i might try some more too :D
well aslong as you keep under 60 you should be fine and that cpu will take 1.7 easy
on air
