Logitech x-530 5.1 speakers any good?

I have nforce4 alc-850 codec with my Epox 9npaj sli.

but reading a review sounds like u need high end speakers to appreciate the quality.

Im more interested in speakers, since I want to have some spare cash left to put down on a new PSU.

The main reason for this upgrade ( I already have 5.1 set), is because I get mains hum through these speakers. I also believe I could get a quieter PSU than my enermax 550w (not FMA, fan adjustable).

forget about the Audigy 4, that card should never have been released.. the SB X-Fi is a true hardware accellerated sound card, it would shame Intel and AMD in audio encoding, and the "Xtreme Music" version can be had for £90.

As for the speakers themselves, Logitech surroundsound kits are generally good quality, but everyone hears in a slightly different way, so each to his own really.

The Logitech X 530's are better than most in the price range £59.99 @ Argos
I have this set wired up to our kid's pc ( see sig below) and it really has good quality sound, good bass and stuff, but it's all down to personal preference, I think.

I personally prefer my Creative P5800 set up but possibly because it's wired up to my onboard Creative Soundblaster 24-bit chip, which is better than any Realtek onboard sound. It just sounds more defined and crisp in my opinion, but I am no expert.

Got mine from scan, £44; free del. They have the strange (rare) quirk of picking up radio stations, and popping; but appart from that they are quality. I had live, audigy1, soundstorm onboard alc850 and I couldnt tell the difference between any of them.

I have these speakers positioned better that the last set I used. They are actually behind me and I do get a very good sence of spatial awareness in america's army/bf2 (but moreso AA). I cant really say they are an improvement on what I had, but they are a little neater with fewer wires and one transformer.

This was due to having a digital wire connected and cleared up once removed.
