    Best ram for opteron 144?

Hey,, i have just bought an opteron 144 - CABNE stepping as part of a gaming rig that im building. As the rig will be used mainly for gaming, I was wondering what you think would be the best ram to get the most out of my opteron when it is overclocked?

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Athlon 64s don't actually need fast ram to be overclocked as the most important thing is cpu speed not ram speed. The ram can be kept at stock settings while the cpu runs at 2.7-3ghz with virtually no performance drop.

2gb is pretty much standard now. If you're not willing to spend to much money I would just get some value ram. The performance difference between value and performance ram in modern games is very small, 2-3% at most yet the price difference is more like 100%...

There is some info on ram timings and dividers here at dfi street:

If you want to spend a little more then this g.skill kit is a good recommendation. F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX with the blue heatspreaders 2nd down:

Clocks well with tight timings up to 250mhz and doesnt take too much work.
