ADVICE ON THIS CASE AND PSU Ps!

Hi I am looking to build a new pc, and as a good psu is needed i was hoping this combo might be OK! Also is this case easy to build from ..."ie plenty room to connect" as it will be my 1st build
Any other components cases/psu's suggestions will be very much appreciated

Specs:
athlon 64 (maybe push budget upto a dual cpu)
939 board & good cooling

Got a lot of stuff on old pc ie sound card,Burners,monitor etc

well if ur going A64 then u will need a 24 pin connector on ur psu, be atx2.2 compatable nd if ur going SLI will need those 2 pci-e connectors and that doesnt have any of it. the case doesnt look too bad, tbh ur look at 100 pound for psu and case minimum, im about to build my new pc with a tagan 2force 530w and a coolmaster centurion 530 this cost me 98 quid for those 2 and the centurion 530 is dam gd for 40-50 price range. I dont have as much experience as most of these guys in here so ill let them talk to u bout it but i wldnt order nefing till ur 100% of compatability

Im not a fan of ULTRA psus... were one of the worst rails Ive used since those generic ones off local shops..

Never heard of ultra. Sounds like a very budget build.

But thankfully you do not need 24pin for A64.

What pins you need depend on the motherboard - mine needs 20pin for eg. and I have to use an annoying 24 to 20 pin converter.

I would recommend the antec sonata which comes with a PSU, or getting something like a coolermaster 5 case and a low W but reputable make PSU.

If you get a cheap board like the ASRock Dual Sata2, you will need a PSU that has a 20 pin connector.

The ultra psu performed badly in various tests. That psu is no good to you, it only has 16a on the +12V. Do not scrimp on the PSU

My personal thought on cases and psus are; a case will not blow your pc up costing you loads of cash and loss of data.

If you have £60 to buy a case and psu then spend £45-50 on the psu and £10-15 on the case.

yes the case will not be lian li quality so wear some thin gloves when installing if there are sharp edges and take a bit more time and care.

Yes, 16A on the +12 rail is not even close to enough. A 400 watt PSU with only 16A on the 12v rail is rediculous. My 270watt SFF Enermax has 22A. My Shuttle has 34A. 16A is nuts.

If you can get the OCZ Modstream 450 or 520 you should be styling.

Antec's Sonata II comes with a reasonable 450 watt PSU and is a nice case into the bargain...

Oh Dear i purchased this with Misco as it was reduced from £67 to £58 and then to only £46! It has not arrived yet do you think i might be able to change case & PSU If not I will sell it on and in future listen to you guys! Too damn eager

I have emailed and may be able to stop the order. And in future will post and this time wait until i get a reply b4 i order So back to square 1 again

I contact them as soon as possible - just advise them that you purchased the wrong product and want to cancel. I checked the terms and conditions arising for returns and they say:

If the Regulations apply, Customers may cancel goods purchased from Systemax by sending a written notice of cancellation by post or hand delivery addressed to Customer Services at Misco, Darby Close, Park Farm South, Wellingborough, Northants NN8 6GS or by fax to 0870 720 8623 or by e-mail to custservice@misco.co.uk
The notice of cancellation must be delivered within 7 working days of the day after date of delivery of the goods.
The Customer will be responsible for the cost of returning the goods if he or she exercises this right of cancellation under the Regulations. If the Customer does not actually return the goods to Systemax, the Customer is under a duty to make the goods available for collection at the Customer's expense from the address to which they were delivered.

Like the posts above say, best to spend more on the PSU, so you would be better off cancelling

Hi Guys i have emailed Misco at sales@misco & custservice@misco.co.uk as johnny posted and i tried to phone but sadly there now closed. I dont ming coping the P&P but i dont really want to pay for the Returned carraige as i may as well sell it on ebay! Cheers!

Guys, be careful about hyping on the Amps for the 12v line - the A on a single rail line (like the SFF supplies mentioned above) will be more than if you have a dual rail. 16A on one of a dual rail lines isn't so bad (but I don't know if that supply has dual rails - it doesn't say it does).

So is this PSU really that bad? I mean whats the chances of it failing? Remember i do not OC!
