    Only sound from the front

Hi all, ive got a Audigy 2zs installed on my pc, along with some nice logitech 7.1's.
    - When i do the sound test all speakeres work
    - But when i go to play music, in WMP/creative media player, only the front 3 work, nothing from the rear

    Any ideas lads?

I use my built in 7.1 sound on my intel board, logitech Z-640 and the same problem occurs.

What you have to do is press the matrix mode on your speakers (if it has it...) This option is also available within my sound settings (intel Audio Studio) but won't will with yours....
The reason is that your music is only 2.1 sound therefoire the speakers play nothing for the back ones.
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

as workaholic says music is only usually stereo so will only output from the front speakers + sub (with you soundcard mixing the left and right to also output the centre) to enable the playback form the rears look for some sort of option like stereo expansion in your sound card drivers, most have it.

There is an option in the creative settings to enable 7.1 surround and CMSS (or something like that) to make everything use all speakers

Go to Control Panel -> Sound and Audio Device Properties -> Speaker Setting, Advanced -> Change it to 7.1

After that all Directsound output will be 5.1/7.1 or whatever you set. IT doesn't work with Kernal Streaming though...
