Hi,
Just a quick question. Currently, I have 4 IDE devices, 2 harddrives and 2 DVD-RW drives. Is there any way for me to add a bigger harddrive without having to remove one of my existing ones? My motherboard also has SATA if that helps.
Thanks

I wasnt sure if I could have SATA and IDE at the same time.
Yes you can, but depends on your chipset it could be troublesome to get windows installed on a SATA harddrive.Originally Posted by technophreak

I'm looking to get a 200gb+ drive for file storage so I would be installing windows on one of my existing 40gb IDE drives so that wouldnt be a problem.Originally Posted by arthurleung
I run one sata and 2 pata drives with no problems. If you're getting a drive bigger than 137gb in size make sure you have at least sp1 installed so the extra space will be recognised by windows. I'd recommend sp2 though for the security 'features'.
Cheers. I've got SP2 so everything should be fine.
sata and ide no problems
you can also add pci ide card, gives 2/4 extra ide ports
