xbox 360 hard disks
I am the forthcoming recepient of a free xbox 360 (from one of these freebie sites!) which, tbh, the only reason I applied for was to play halo 2!
Turns out you need an HD to play halo 2.
From what I understand the xbox 360 HD is in short supply at present and most people buy the core pack (when they find it!) to get the HD with it - it's also cheaper as I understand. Since I didn't pay a penny for mine, I don't care either way because I'm stuck with the base pack!
The external drive is the same the world over and the only difference between it and a normal HD is a custom connector that plugs into the back of the xbox.
Although greater men than I are probably working on a hack at this very moment as you can probably guess, I'm looking to shave a few pennies off so I can play halo 2 without having to try and find an external caddy so rare that it's easier to find hens teeth and anyway, you end up paying a rediculous £70 for a £20 drive and £5 caddy = (
Any ideas?

It's the Premium that comes with the HDD, the Core without, and no, you ain't shaving pennies off here.
Nice one on the free 360, but you're shelling out for the HDD when you find it I'm afraid.
And it could just be cheaper to buy an original Xbox at this point in time, too :D

just about tbh - I had the choice - stick with the original or go for the 360.
Seems odd that everything isn't just backwards compatible. The more I research I find:
1) the original did more stuff because of the 'modifications' you could make (play divX etc)
2) the new one is so much more restrictive!
I'm unlikely to play the 360 that much anyway unless it's halo 2 against my friend. I'm a little pieved that it didn't come with an integrated wireless card - it'd cost pennies to throw in, yet MS want my money :- (
Half tempted to get it, flog it buy an xbox 1 = )
$$$Profit!
hehe
