    Exclamation PC problem pls help

ok here is all the hardware for my new pc

AMD Athlon 64 4000 32/64Bit CPU S939 "San Diego" Retail inc Heat Sink Fan & 3 Years Warranty

250Gb Maxtor Maxline III 24x7 Reliability (7200rpm,16MB) SATA II Features NCQ - Lead (Pb) Free

    1Gb 2x512Mb Corsair, DDR400/PC3200,128Mx64, non-ECC, 184 DIMM, unbuffered, CL2.5, Lifetime Warranty

    Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe, ATX, DDDR400, PCI-E, 2 x Gbit Lan, USB 2.0, 1394, 8ch Audio, 4 x SATA, Raid 5

    480W XClio-SCF aPFC Super Silent (21Db) 12cm Fan 8/20/24 ATX2/2.01 12vEPS + SATA+PCI-E Hi-End

so.. after i have fix everything together and install the OS, i start to install the motherboard drivers. after installing them the computer just got stuck at the Windows XP loading screen. the computer did not hang as the loading bar at the bottom is still running but it just does not proceed. I tried reformating it but the problem is still there.

the only problem that i think may have cause this is beacuse i am using the SATA cables(provided by with the motherboard) for my hard disk. Should i get the SATA2 cable for my hard disk?

    please help me out. thanks

have you updated the bios? if so, do with a floppy or keep trying to load up, if it is the bios it will work after a few trys. This is because not all board have the right bios for san diego chips

hm.. it seem like the hardware is fine. now after much time with my computer, i found that if you wait long enough it eventually gets into windows. This usually occur when i install something new. now that i am done with the installing, i try restarting the computer many times and it loads up fast and fine .. no problem.

STILL is there an explaination on why i have to wait for a long time for the window to get loaded after i just install something?

The SATA 2 cables that I work with have a latch connector on both ends, which makes it a hell of a lot easier, (and safer) to disconnect from the mobo and hard drive. I think that they're meant to be better shielded too, as the original SATA cables were poor, although don't quote me on that .

The Asus mobo (Identical to mine) should work off the bat with a Sand Diego core. I had not toruble so I don't reckon thats the problem, I'd look at the hard drive if I were you.
