    Temp Monitering Sata Drives

    I used to use MBM5 to moniter the temp of my (p)ata hdd, but now ive swaped to a Sata i done seem to be able to pick up the temps using MBM?
    - Is there any was i can find out how hot it is, other the using the back of my hand (which tells be its pritty toasty)

    try Speedfan & see if it can read it.

    It depends on the controller chip on your motherboard as well, some are not great at supporting SMART information (driver can also be the problem). For example, the Silicon Image chipset on mine helpfully reports SMART data for the first drive only, but for both channels - great fun

    Is SMART turned on for that drive in the bios? It usually defaults to off.

    The board is AT7 max2, using the onboard Sata chip (just one sata HDD)

    Did you try Speedfan as BUFF suggested? If so and it didn't work, maybe a good idea to try an update the SATA/RAID drivers (be very careful though).

    I've just come home for the w/end (minus pc) but i'll give it a go first thing when i get back monday.
